What are others doing?

We've designed this toolkit to highlight the benefits of youth engagement, help you implement youth engagement initiatives in your agency, and above all to showcase the many youth engagement success stories from across the province. Here are a few featured examples:

A zine and video from mindyourmind

As part of their work supporting the Youth Services Bureau (YSB) of Ottawa, the Youth and Caregiver Resource Group identified a need for mental health resources for diverse ethnocultural communities. The youth recruited several more youth outside of the resource group from various ethnocultural groups in Ottawa and enlisted the support of mindyourmind to co-create two different resources.

Multicultural events

The Ethno-Cultural Youth Advisory Committee (EYAC) of the Youth Services Bureau (YSB) of Ottawa, is a peer-to-peer youth engagement committee that has existed since 2009. They focus on providing services and implementing programs that will help newcomer, refugee, second-generation, and racialized youth integrate and navigate more easily into Canada.

Young people with lived experience

YouthSpeak is composed of a team of young people who share their stories and advocate to raise awareness about the challenges that young people face regarding mental health, bullying, addiction and among many other things. This is a great example of how youth can be engaged in advocacy and education. Get to know what YouthSpeak is all about.

A network of young people

The Jack Project is a national network of young people who are striving to transform the way we think, talk about and address mental health.
